What is a Mandala and how are they associated to chakras?

What is a mandala? The circle is an ancient symbol of wholeness, balance and unity. It is found in the art, architecture, and healing rituals of ancient, indigenous, and contemporary cultures worldwide. Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and founder of depth psychology, utilized mandalas personally as well as clinically as a means of inner exploration. Jung believed the circle was the eternal symbol of the Self, our true nature. He discovered that creating mandalas brought one closer to the essence of the Self and offered insight into psychological and spiritual issues. (Source: Own drawings) What are Chakras?
